Community Service Requirements

For the year 2025-2026, you must complete at least 10 hours of community service per semester. A minimum of 5 must be NHS endorsed events and the remainder are any type of community service.
What is an "NHS sponsored activity?"
It is something with an organization that NHS is directly involved in and/or benefits OUR school (NHS tutoring, Teacher assistance)
What are "General Hours?"
1. There are some listed on the website, but you can find others on your own.
2. The activity must benefit the community as a WHOLE. It doesn't just
benefit you, your best friend or your neighbor. (Walk for Warmth, Salvation Army)
What doesn't count?
1. Tutoring someone (NHS organized tutoring DOES count)
2. Hallway decorating
3. Fundraisers for other school organizations.
4. Other club and sports requirements (Band Mattress Sale, Link Breakfast)
5. Your NHS group project. This is a requirement of NHS. It is not extra hours.
If 10 community service hours are not completed per semester, you will be placed on probation. This status of probation will be shared with any colleges and/or scholarship programs that call to verify your NHS membership.

These count for GENERAL HOURS (you must complete 5 hours per semester).  Bring underclassmen who are interested in being in NHS in the future as this would be a great way for them to log some hours.  They will have to keep track of these on their own.
